Joanna Wylde has created a fantastic world in her Reapers Motorcycle Club series. Though each book can be read as a stand alone, I would highly recommend the entire series to get the full effect of each character. I absolutely am devouring this series and Reaper's Stand, is no different for me. From start to finish I could not put this incredible story down as I had to know what would happen next.I first met Reese "Picnic" Hayes in book one of this series, as he is the President of the Reaper's MC in Northern Idaho. He has two daughters and besides them, he has devoted his entire life to his Motorcycle Club and will stop at nothing to protect it. He lost his wife to cancer several years ago, and since then he uses women as a distraction. He knows the love of his life has passed and will likely never have that type of connection again. That is, until he meets London Armstrong, the owner of the club's new cleaning service. There's just something about her that he can't quite put his finger on, but he knows he has to find out what it is.London Armstrong has devoted her entire life to her young cousin, Jessica. She has moved mountains to make sure she is well cared for and safe. For the past six years, since London has been her guardian, she has little time outside of Jessica and her business. When she meets Reece, she know she is attracted to him, but he is dangerous, so she does her best to keep things professional. Jessica might be 18, but she is reckless with her decisions and often is in need of her cousin's help. When Jessica gets herself into trouble with a dangerous Cartel, Reece just might be the only one who can help London save Jessica.I loved this book from start to finish. The world that Joanna Wylde has created in her Reaper's Series is one that I don't want to leave. I immediately one-clicked the next one in this series to find out what happens next!
In Joanna's first book Reaper's Property, I was torn between liking and disliking Picnic. However, in this book I have decided I really do like Picnic. He's strong, stubborn, loyal, and when he loves, he loves deeply and unconditionally. He such a dichotomy of good and bad. I admire how he can be so ruthless but when it comes to his daughters, he loves them fiercely. In Hunter and Emmy's book, Picnic was overbearing a lot of times. In this book, we see his thought process when it comes to his daughters as well as his late wife. While putting up the stone cold appearance, inside he's a daddy bear when it comes to his girls. London makes several decisions that Picnic does not agree with or is angry about, however, when London asks, "If it were one of your daughters, what would you do?" Many times this stopped him and made him reconsider because he knew exactly what a parent who loves their child would do.Then, there's London. While not my favorite female in the Reaper's series (that goes to Em), she is definitely second. She has a strong sense of loyalty and unconditional love. I loved how she tried so hard to be open minded. When she walks through the Reaper's clubhouse and sees people sharing their "affection" openly for whoever to see she's taken aback and could've been incredibly judgemental. However, she has some initial wth? moments, then reminds herself, "Not my place to judge. They're adults and that's their decision and has nothing to do with me," then she continues along her way and moves forward. I personally may not want to watch open sex acts either, but I appreciate how Wylde presented London. She didn't agree with some things she saw while around the Reaper's but she wasn't above it all either. I hate it when a character comes into a different world, so to say, and automatically starts thinking how wrong everyone around them is. Yeah, you may not agree with what's happening around you, but like London thought, "Not my business." They're not hurting anyone so check your judgement at the door.I also liked the end of the story when London really developed a kick-ass take names later attitude. She didn't care anymore and left fear behind. She saw a problem ahead of her and was going to fix the problem she was partially responsible for. She didn't care what happened in the end as long as those she loved were safe. I respected her quite a bit by the end of the story.
...did I just type that? I did, I loved the first book so much so that I’ve read it multiple times but this book - there’s really a special element to it unlike the others.Everyone who has read the series up until now knows that Picnic lost his wife tragically. What Joanna Wylde does with the storyline is just brilliant and my heart felt so much. Reese “Picnic†Hayes is the epitome of the Reaper Prez we know and love, always has been. Seeing all sides of him as opposed to just one dimensional was such an incredible experience to have read. This book is outstanding, the whole series is, no doubt but this book has a little more to it that gave it a deeper place in my heart than the others. (Don’t tell Horse & Marie bc if it weren’t for them, I wouldn’t be reading these books haha) #truth#MustRead*this review is affiliated by The Book Bistro
Reese "Picnic" Hayes is prez of Reaper's Motorcycle Club and London Armstrong is the new cleaning lady for the compound. There is attraction in both parts but London knows better to cross that line . Reese is basically a man whose at the property and she is not that kind of girl.London's cousin Jessica whom she is raising went to his club and looking for trouble and she needs his help to find her. But with Reese if you want his help you are going to give him something also. This is a great book and I hated for it to end. A lot of twist and turns a bond betrayal and some redemption. Can Reese and London find Bridgestone happily ever after or move on.I didn't care for Reese in the beginning because he was with ever white he could get his hands on no matter age. But he got better and was deep down a decent human just life and loss turned him into a cold type of man.
