This book gives me more insight into the life of missionaries and life in Africa than any other book I've read about Africa, and that's a lot of them. After I read this book, I read his previous book from 2013. No one writes better blogs than Mr. Kananen; he takes us with him through life in Africa, including a lot of surprises that happen so consistently in Tanzania. In this book the blogs begin and end on airplanes, the first page has their plane landing in Arusha, Tanzania while they're still flying on another flight somewhere over Kenya. The last blog has them at 40,000 feet flying over the Canadian Rockies.They encountered Lions, the Maasai, traffic without pattern, a week on the sandy shores of the Indian Ocean, police checkpoints, rabies shots, scorpions, libraries, nursing students, and a hundred other things and events I'd never thought about. It's a pro-God book, and gives insight into why people would become missionaries. Jean and Marvin are teachers who served a dozen years with the Maasai girls, then have returned twice since their retirement in 2010. They seem the kind of people God uses, not because they are the best or bravest, but because they are willing to be led to where the work is needed.This is a five-star book!
Well written and entertaining mission to Tanzania. Makes you want to go there.
