About the Author
Curt R. Bartol was a college professor for more than 30 years, teaching a wide variety of both undergraduate and graduate courses, including Biopsychology, Criminal Behavior, Juvenile Delinquency, Introduction to Forensic Psychology, Social Psychology, Profiling, and Psychology and Law. He earned his PhD in personality/social psychology from Northern Illinois University in 1972. He studied political science and law at the University of Wisconsin-Madison under a fellowship from the National Institute for the Humanities (NIH). He was instrumental in creating and launching Castleton State College’s graduate program in forensic psychology and served as its director for 6 years. As a licensed clinical psychologist, he has been a consulting police psychologist to local, municipal, state, and federal law enforcement agencies for over 30 years. In addition to Introduction to Forensic Psychology, he has coauthored Criminal Behavior: A Psychosocial Approach (now in its 11th ed.), Juvenile Delinquency and Antisocial Behavior: A Developmental Perspective (3rd ed.), Criminal and Behavioral Profiling, and Psychology and Law: Theory, Research, and Application (3rd ed.). He served as editor of SAGE’s Criminal Justice and Behavior: An International Journal, for 17 years. He also co-edited Current Perspectives in Forensic Psychology and Criminal Behavior (3rd ed.).

February 6, 2019:After spending nearly four weeks with the textbook, I've added another star for quality. Yes, the formatting isn't the same as the hard- or paperback version of the text. However, as far as an e-textbook format goes, I'm really enjoying this textbook now. It's EXTREMELY customizable, in the effect that you can pretty much do anything with it like you could with your usual kindle books. Text-to-speech is a great feature that's available for this title, and word runner's scrolling mode is great for skimming information. Additionally, the ability to change line spacing, font, and background color on the PC reader is really advantageous for long study sessions.The only reason why this is at, and will remain at, four stars now is the lack of x-ray utility. The other e-texts on Amazon are great about hovering over bold terms and having the definition within quick reference. This textbook lacks that feature, and as a result you'll wind up spending a LOT of time making your own flashcards.--------------------------------------January 16, 2019:It was my mistake for not checking the inside look before purchasing, but the electronic edition of the book is not even remotely formatted like the physical text at all. This is the first eTextbook from Amazon that I've purchased that isn't a carbon copy of the physical version, and for my lecture style course that utilizes the book in class that's going to be an issue. For others looking to purchase this for courses that utilize the book in class, good luck - you'll have to be religious about taking notes and using bookmarks to find your place quickly in class.I'll update later as I progress through the text with my introductory course, but at this moment it feel like the electronic version is going to be more of a hindrance than a great study aid. I think the only saving grace will be the built in text-to-speech accessibility feature on the Kindle devices, which isn't common in most eTextbooks.----
I actually really enjoyed this book. It is different from most textbooks in a way I can't explain. It's just more fun to read. It's really not a boring book. I am concentrating in clinical, but I enjoyed this book for my forensics class. I actually enjoyed reading it which is rare. It's easier to read than most textbooks.
Excellent text required for a class. This is such a new field of study, however the text is well thought out, organized, and well written. Had I not rented this book, but had to buy it, it'd become a permanent fixture in my professional library.

Although I should say "fascinating, if you are interested in the basic theories and foundations of the subject of forensic psychology." I do understand that this is a textbook, and many people have a hard time reading texts; however, if you can get past that, this book is probably the best "intro to" book that I have ever read. I've used it in one class so far and will use it for at least three others.
Forensic Psychology Research Textbook was exceptionally informative. Very happy with it's educational content. I feel it will help make me a better paramedic instructor.
Very pleased with book
I am using this book for a course in school. It is a basic text book, nothing spectacular about it but it is readable. Some texts are dry and can make the course a bore, this does not do that. It contains pretty basic level information about the criminal justice system and forensic psychology.
